Real-time Text

The Real-time text feature allows companions to type messages in real time during video calls. The GrandPad user can read the message as it’s being typed on the GrandPad screen, then respond verbally as usual. This is incredibly helpful for seniors with impaired hearing, allowing them to read important details being communicated over the call, such as the time and date of an appointment.

Improving Video Call Quality

The GrandPad comes with 4G LTE connection so that your video chats with loved ones are as clear and crisp as possible. Be sure to adjust the space around you for the best lighting and sound so that the person you’re calling can clearly see and hear you.

Light Up The Call

Sit in a well-lit indoor area, like a living room or dining room. Ideally, there are multiple sources of overhead ambient lighting in the room so that your face is clearly visible. If you call during sunset or sunrise, turn on a nearby lamp so that your face won’t become obscured as the lighting changes in the room.

For the person using the GrandPad, it helps to hold up the GrandPad at eye level In the lower right corner, there is an image area that represents what is shown to the person you are calling. Make sure the GrandPadis angled toward their face, so that the person on the other end can see them.

Reduce Background Noise

Mute the television, turn off the radio, and sit inside where the background noise is minimal. Even if it sounds far away to you, heavy traffic, nearby construction, and other ambient noises can muffle your voice and make calls harder to hear.

Video calls can be powerful in bringing families closer together. GrandPad makes video calling easy and accessible for seniors and their loved ones.
